Kathryn Gearhart & Darren Harman Voted MileSplit Maryland's XC Runners Of September!

Congratulations to South Hagerstown senior Darren Harmon and Easton senior Kathryn Gearhart for being voted by MileSplit Maryland's site visitors as September's XC Runners Of The Month in the state of Maryland.

Gearhart garnered 2,415 votes, which was 58.87% of the 4,102 total votes to finish ahead of Annapolis junior Maria Coffin. Gearhart's notable race of September was a victory in the elite race at the Bull Run Invitational with a time of 18:51, which was second fastest on the day behind Coffin's 18:09 course record race. Just this past week, the 2A state title contender Gearhart ran a new 5K personal best of 18:02 at the Tidewater Fall Classic.

Harman received 1,233 votes for 54.9% of the total voting to move head of McDonogh School sophomore Dalton Hengst (913 votes) in second place. Harman won two major invitational races in the large school race at Bull Run as well as the Rebels Invitational with his only loss in a runner-up finish at the Interstate Classic to Richard Montgomery's Rohann Asfaw. He's been consistent with performances in the mid 16's as well in weekday meets on some of the hilly courses of Western Maryland.
