Maryland Recap From NXN Southeast: No Nationals Qualifiers, But Experience Gained

Open Girls Race

The Good Counsel girls ran a split squad at NXN Southeast with their top runner Claudia Wendt running in the championship race unattached, while rest of squad competed in the open race. Nothing new for their team as the Good Counsel girls often raced without Wendt in the last half of the season due to injury as well as triathlon commitments for Wendt.

Megan Crilly led the Good Counsel girls with a top 5 finish in the open race with a time of 19:21 by the senior. Good Counsel finished 6th as a team with 135 points, while Maryland squads Howard (8th, 150 pts), Severna Park (10th, 251 pts), and Oakdale (13th, 383 pts) trailed them in the team standings.

Howard junior Courtney Man (12th, 19:44) and Severna Park freshmen Kamryn Eveleth (13th, 19:51) both clocked times under 20 in the open race, with Stone Ridge School's Genevieve DiBari finished just inside the top 20 with her time of 20:06 (20th place).
