MileSplit Maryland is excited to kick off with our first live event ever on Wednesday at the Largo Lion Invitational starting with the first races at 2 PM. The meet at Largo High School should feature some of the top athletes in PG County as well as Southern Maryland after being rescheduled from this past Saturday due to weather.
The sprints and hurdles will definitely be where the action is the hottest on the track including a highly anticipated and likely showdown in the girls 100 meter finals between two of Maryland's best in Lackey's Sydney Williams and Duval's Madeleine Akobundu both pressing for times closer to 14 seconds flat. The Oxon Hill boys are one of the state's programs and will be stout in the relays as well as individually led by 200 meter state leader Jabari Michael.
Indoor 55 meter dash state champion Mary Foday of Central-PG will be in the 100 meter dash and looking to clock a sub 12 second performance. Bishop McNamara's Xavier Williams ran sub 11 to win the Crimson Tide Invite two Saturdays ago and will look to keep his streak of wins going in the 100 meter dash on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the host school Largo is looking to win several relay races among their boys and girls squads in front of the home crowd.
