Summer Training Blog: Will Merritt (Entries #2 & #3)


Entry #3 July 31 - August 6

Sunday July 31st

Off Day.

Monday August 1st

 - AM: 5.5 miles with a weight lifting session.

 - PM: Five easy miles.

Tuesday August 2nd

Hard hill workout at Camp Penn with a group of runners from the area. I ran seven miles in 45 minutes.

Wednesday August 3rd

 - AM: Mile warmup, then 10x400 at 70 seconds each. Felt very relaxed and easy. Two mile cooldown.

 - PM: 3.5 miles relaxed through my neighborhood with my dad on the bike beside me.

Thursday August 4th

12 miles in the middle of the day (and heat) on the C&O Canal. I had Micah Daigneault on the bike beside me and I ran my last six miles at 5:50 pace. Very happy with my aerobic pace at this point.

Friday August 5th

8.25 miles in the middle of a rainstorm on the C&O Canal with a group of runners from the area.

Saturday August 6th

Six relaxed miles in the morning. Later in the day I walked around some college campuses in D.C. and attended the San Francisco Giants - Washington Nationals game. The Nats lost but it was still a great time.
