June 20-26

Left on vacation for Minnesota this week, but just because I'm on vacation doesn't mean I'm not putting in work. Overall mileage for this week was 31.42 miles, including two tempos on the treadmill and a fartlek. The gap between this week and the end of track season wasn't very strenuous, filled only with easy runs to keep the legs moving.

June 27 - July 3

This week I was still in Minnesota and got in some quality training thanks to the beautiful weather and the multitude of lakes to run by. The workouts for this week included a three mile tempo averaged at 5:50 per mile and a four mile fartlek (configuration: continuous intervals of 1 min on, 1 min off). Overall mileage this week was 33.98 miles.

July 4-10

Got back to Maryland on the morning of July 3 and was able to return to training with my team. Started the week well on the Fourth of July with my first race at the Autism Speaks 5k, clocking in at 17:01 for a third-place finish. Went out too fast for such a slow course with a 4:47-4:52 first mile but still managed to better my time from last year's race by 1:45. Overall mileage for this week was 30.61 miles which is slightly lower than last week's but it was compensated for with the 5k and the 4 x hill workout nearby Candy Cane Park (aka Meadowbrook Park).

July 11-17

Back to work with the boys this week, kicking it off with a four mile tempo run averaged at 5:57 per mile. Later in the week on the 14th we ran a four mile fartlek (configuration: 1 min on, 1 min off, repeat). The trails near Candy Cane Park have been great to run on as the slew of hills really prepare us for the upcoming season and toughen us throughout these workouts. Overall mileage for this week was 37.42 miles.
