Summer Training Blog: Charlie Sweeney (Entry #5)

Entry #1 July 17-23

This week was a maintenance at my peak mileage week.

Sunday July 17:

Eight miles in 56:45, just a relaxed easier run to get some miles in.

Monday July 18:

Went to a local park-and-ride, which is an 8.5 mile loop, with our old #1 Matt Bennett in the evening. Ended up doing 9.64 miles in 65 minutes. I liked how shady this place was.

Tuesday July 19:

Negative split workout. So I had a 20 minute moderate run out, and then raced back in 15 minutes with a 10 minute cooldown. I took the 20 minutes out a little too fast, so it worked that I had to cover about 2.8 miles in 15 minutes. I did it in 16 minutes and ran barefoot on the field for 10 minutes. 7.05 total miles - then I went to the gym and did some strength exercises later.

Wednesday July 20:

8.5 miles in 55:28 at the park-and-ride again with Matt. We are really starting to like this loop because there's a solid amount of hills and the miles just fly by.

Thursday July 21:

7 miles in 45:42 and then I did some hurdle drills. Did another 1.55 miles at this running camp that I help out with for little kids. So today's total was 8.55 miles.

Friday July 22:

I do my long hard runs on Friday because that's when Matt has his runs so I ended up doing 12.14 miles in 75:04! I was excited about the pace especially with this week and last week being high mileage.

Saturday July 23:

8.5 miles in 60:00 at the gym on the treadmill inside because the heat is crazy! Went back later and did some strength work.

Total mileage for the week was 62.38 miles.
