Bailey got a taste of state meet action in the indoor 4x800 as a freshman in 2016, but it wasn't until the spring that he truly broke out. He showed range from the 400 to the 1600, but his best event was the 800 in which he ran 1:57.65 at the 4A West Regionals, earning him a spot at the 4A State Championships. Bailey's time was the third-fastest by a freshman in the MileSplit database since at least 2008 behind Mark Unger (2016) and Dalton Hengst (2015). If healthy he should blow away his 2016 indoor personal best of 2:14.29 this season.
