Heading into last year's state championship, Rhoten had won four races during the season, but none with more than ten teams present. After finishing fifth at the 1A West regional, her dominant race at the state championships was one of the most surprising performances of the entire season in the state. Rhoten leads a team that returns six of seven from last year's runner-up team finish.
