Despite a late debut to her senior cross country season, Walter Johnson's Abigail Green wasted no time reclaiming the top ranking in the state of Maryland with a 17:54 performance at DCXC. After three straight regional titles, back-to-back runner up finishes at states and leading the Wildcats to three straight team titles, an individual state championship seems about the only possible accolade missing from Green's impressive resume.

The competition chasing Green will remain stiff this year, in particular a very strong group of juniors. Anna Coffin (18:53 season best), Brin Strouse (19:00 season best) and Kamryn Eveleth and Jessica Trzeciak (fifth and sixth at last year's state meet) make for what could be some very competitive races at Hereford both this year and next.
