The air was warm and the times were slow. On a weekend which usually sees the full arrival of crisp fall weather and consequently faster times, the exact opposite happened, as the sun turned a pleasant morning into an unseasonably warm afternoon. But make no mistake - Maryland came to run.

Dulaney's Vinay Khosla got things started with a win in the boys freshman race, and the victory foreshadowed what turned out to be a great day from the state up north. Poolesville's Ryan Lockett turned in his second consecutive big performance, pulling away from Severna Park's Garrison Clark in the final half of the race. Clark and the Severna Park boys would get the last laugh, as they defeated Dulaney (and everybody else) in the varsity field.

On the girls' side, Walter Johnson's Abigail Green dominated from the beginning and led the Wildcats to a comfortable victory in the team standings. The Walter Johnson girls, who look to be rounding into their usual championship form with each passing week, put four girls in the top 27 and finished more than 50 points ahead of the Severna Park girls in second place.
