Reservoir's Kai Muniz and Northern's Greg Oldham may have already given us a 3A 1600 state meet preview last week at the 3A East Regionals. It was Muniz running away with the title, gapping Oldham by seven seconds. Both runners have improved in the event this winter, and they currently rank fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 1600 on the Maryland state leaderboard.

No other 3A boy has cracked 4:30 yet this winter, but Franklin's Joseph Queen and Digital Harbor's Ablel Gebreselase certainly put on a show for spectators at the 3A Central Regionals. Queen held off a late charge from the Digital Harbor senior, as the race established them as the two most likely candidates to break up Muniz and Oldham up front.
