Calvert Hall's Chris Lewis and McDonogh's DeJuan Ellis had a very tight battle in the 55 meter dash at the MIAA Championships this winter. Will they both crack the top ten on the 100 meter state leaderboard this spring? (Photo by Craig Amoss)

Only four of the top ten sprinters in last year's 100 meter dash graduated, meaning that this year's group has a good chance of beating both last year's #1 (10.33) and #10 (10.67) times. Oakland Mills' Cameron Vereen ran the top time in the state last outdoor season and had a great indoor season, capturing county and regional titles in the 55 dash and finishing second at the 2A state championships. Bullis' Eric Allen, Jr. had the fastest 55 meter dash time in the state (6.36) through early February.
