Samantha Facius and Nyjari McNeil are the top two returners in the state this season in the 800, but did you also know they both rank among the top ten in the 1600 as well? Facius' 4:58.55 from the Gator Invitational is the best returning 1600 time, while McNeil's 5:10.63 performance at the Baltimore County Championships ranks ninth. (Photo by Craig Amoss)

In case you need a reminder of just how good last year's distance class was, just check these 1600 and 3200 lists. Seven of the top ten milers from last year are gone, including the top three. Samantha Facius and Abby Green are the only two returning sub-five milers, while Atholton's Alexandra Hargrett was 0.05 seconds away from the 3A state title last spring.

Others to watch: When allowing for a 1600/mile conversion, this year's indoor list looks almost nothing like the one above, save for Green, Facius, 3A state champ Sarah Deresky and Yasmine Kass; two freshmen cracked the top ten this winter: Walter Johnson's Ella Gaul and River Hill's Faith Meininger, the latter of whom won a state title; Nyjari McNeil might have the best range in the state, given her ability to compete with anyone from the 400 to the 1600.
