Only a few Baltimore-area schools made the trip to the MD/DC Private School state meet in 2013, meaning most of the top runners from the MIAA Championships are on the list above. Spear, who would go on to finish third at the Team Nationals southeast regional meet and qualify for nationals, would have likely been the favorite, even against a strong field of seniors led by St. Albans' Tai Dinger. The Dons would have also been a good matchup for the large school champions from Good Counsel.

The same is true for most of the girls field as well; while individual champion Kristen Kohles and the John Carroll girls competed at the MD/DC state meet, neither McDonogh's Maggie Seybold nor Mount de Sales' Jessica Harris did. Neither did the top two finishers from the ISL Championships, Sidwell Friends' Ellie Leape or the aforementioned Emily Kaplan (she would compete at the meet as a senior in 2014).
