Nichole Jones wins NIN 2 Mile title

Texas represented very well at the Nike Indoor Nationals in Landover Md. The
highlight of the meet for Texas was Nichole Jones (Westfield) running away from
a national class field in 10:29. She also ran and won the girls 800m unseeded
race in 2:14.53.


Will Smith from Jesuit ran well in the 1 mile with a 4:24.7, Brandon Birdsong
from Lubbock n 2 mile with a 9:31.8. Cordera Jenkins took the 60H title in a
fast 7.73. The Woodlands placed high in numerous events including girls 4x8
(9:25.54) for 3rd, DMR (12:18) for 5th. Pole Vaulter Britney Parker continued
her great season with a 2nd place finish (13-01.50).


Cinco Ranch did very well in the meet also. Cinco had 2 runners place high in
the open 1 mile race, John Buck 4:20.3, Zach Flowers 4:28.6. Joe Sauvageau ran a
fast 9:37.4. The 4x1 Cinco team took 2nd in 17:55.2 and a 8::01 in the 4x800.

Della Belle took it out from the start, setting the pace along with Billsboro
of Coldwater and Buck of Texas. The order stayed much the same until the seventh
lap. Siragusa began to move up, passing Buck and then

Billsboro. It came down to the final stretch, as any good mile race does.
Siragusa passed Della Bella with 30m to go and won in 4:17. Della Bellefollowed
right behind, then Billsboro, the Buck in 420
