Come out and experience a cross country meet where the track finally meets the trail!

2018 MARYLAND TRACK & TRAIL INVITATIONAL

You are invited to bring your cross country teams to compete in the Maryland Track & Trail Invitational hosted at historic Fair Hill Race Track by Bohemia Manor High School, Perryville High School, and Elkton High School.

Course description: The course offers an exciting mix of grass horse track, pasture and trail running with a fast start, a fast finish and mildly rolling hills located in the middle portion of the race.

Spectators: 2.8 miles of the race are visible to spectators from the grandstands of the race track, so bring your binoculars. Spectators will also be permitted to travel throughout select areas of the venue to watch runners compete.

Sanction: Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware

Date: Saturday, September 15th , 2018

Entry forms and payment: BOTH must be received by FRIDAY,

August 25th in order to avoid a $50 late fee. Zero exceptions.

$100 for either a boys or a girls varsity team of 10 runners.

$150 for both boys and girls varsity teams.

Entry Information: Coaches may enter 10 athletes into varsity races.

*JV/Open race participants do not need to be registered using Milesplit.

The first 7 runners to cross the line will calculate into the score, the next 3 runners will be on final results but not calculate in scoring. 

Tentative Schedule of events: Buses should plan to arrive at the Fair Hill Race Track from 2:00-2:30PM.  The race schedule will be as follows:

2:30 Coaches meeting/Course Walk

3:30 Varsity Girls

4:00 Varsity Boys

4:30 Combined Open Race

5:00 Awards

Directions from the south: Fair Hill Race Track is located in Cecil County, Maryland. Take Rt. 95 north until Exit 100 Rt. 272 North (North East/Rising Sun). Travel North on 272 towards Rising Sun (5.1 miles). Right onto Rt. 273 East/Old Telegraph Rd (6.2 miles). Fair Hill Race

Track is located on the right. Plenty of parking will be available.

Directions from the North: Fair Hill Race Track is located in Cecil County, Maryland. Take Rt. 95 south until Exit 109 Rt. 279 South (Elkton/Newark). Travel South on 279 towards Elkton (2.6 miles). Right on Route 213 North Singerly Road (6.2 miles). Right on 273 East/Old Telegraph Rd (.7 miles). Fair Hill Race Track is located on the right. Plenty of parking will be available.

Medical Information: Cecil County Public Schools in partnership with ATI Physical Therapy will be providing multiple certified athletic trainers on site to assist athletes before and after the competition.

Concessions: Will be available for all athletes and spectators.

T-shirts: T-Shirts will be available for purchase on race day. 



Trash: The Fair Hill Race Track is one of the most scenic areas in all of beautiful Cecil County, and we MUST leave it that way. We DEMAND that all schools keep their team areas spotless and remove all trash, regardless of how big, small and/or yucky it may be. Thank you for

Other Important Information for Coaches

*We will confirm all entries via email by Wednesday, August 30th. Please make sure both Coaches emails and School Fax numbers are listed on your entry form.

*MPSSAA uniform, jewelry and athlete conduct policies will be in effect.

*We ask that all coaches have their athletes to the line 10 minutes prior

*All teams will be assigned numbered starting blocks at the coaches meeting

*Spikes inch in length are permitted. NO LONGER! Fair Hill Race Track is a delicate surface and we must respect their wishes.

*Certain areas will be off limits to spectators. We will review those with coaches during the coaches meeting and we ask that coaches share that information with their athletes.

*Bring the whole family. A spectator in the grand stands will be able to see 2.8 miles of the course. Binoculars will be a great idea.
