NCAA DIII wXC All-Academic TeamsDivision III Champ Johns Hopkins Named DIII Cross Country Women’s Scholar Team of the Year
NEW ORLEANS – The Blue Jays of Johns Hopkins University are the USTFCCCA NCAA Division III Women’s Scholar Team of the Year for the 2012 cross country season as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Johns Hopkins University won the NCAA Cross Country Championship title this fall.
Scholar Teams of the year are determined from among those who earned All-Academic status and placed highest as a team at the most recent NCAA Championships.

Cross Country Women’s Scholar Team of the Year – Johns Hopkins University
Johns Hopkins, coached by DIII National Women’s Coach of the Year Bobby Van Allen, have earned a cumulative team grade point average of 3.32 through the fall semester of 2012.
The Blue Jays soared to their first NCAA Championship in women’s cross country with a team score of 153, 63 poitns better than runner-up Wartburg. Not only was the championship the first in program history, but it was also the first by a women’s team in school history, and its first DIII title regardless of gender since men’s swimming last won in 1979.
With three USTFCCCA All-America honorees, the Blue Jays stood alone with the most selections. Freshman Hannah Oneda (10th), junior Holly Clarke (25th) and senior Annie Monagle (32nd) each earned the honor for the national champions.

197 Teams Earn All-Academic Status
In addition to the Scholar Team of the Year, the USTFCCCA also announced those Women’s teams who earned 2012 Division III All-Academic Cross Country status.
A total of 197 institutions represent 39 conferences that compose the group. The MIAC had the most squads on the list with 11, followed by the NESCAC, Centennial Conference, and Middle Atlantic Conference which followed with 10.
Eastern Mennonite reported the highest cumulative team GPA in the country through the fall 2012 semester at 3.76. Pomona-Pitzer followed at 3.71.
All ten of the top ten finishing teams at the 2012 NCAA Cross Country Championships earned All-Academic status. Of the 32 teams that participated in the national meet, 28 of those earned All-Academic status.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.10 or better.
