Tauber Breaks @Towson_TFXC School Record at VCU

RICHMOND, Va. - Sophomore distance standout Elizabeth Tauber broke the Towson school record in the 5,000-meter run, highlighting a terrific day for the Tigers at the VCU Ram Invitational on Saturday.

Tauber, who won the event with a time of 17:27.98, ran the second sub-18 minute 5,000-meter run of her career and broke the Towson outdoor record of 17:28.77 ran by Megan Lerch in 2006. Tauber won the event by over 18 seconds, breezing by a distant Anisa Arseneault of Fordham who placed second in 17:46.12.

"It was the best meet we've had this year," Towson head coach Roger Erricker said. "It's nice because we hadn't broken a school record this year and it's getting to the point where a lot of these records are pretty darn good. There were some good teams here today."

Sophomore Emily Wenger placed second in the 400-meter hurdles, recording a time of 1:03.88 and was one of three Tigers placing in the top six in the event. Kamilah Browne was fourth in 1:06.32, while Maya Hinton ran a 1:06.69 to come in sixth.

The 100-meter dash was also a showcase for a pair of freshmen, as Kelsey Fiddes and Kaitlyn Davis  finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the event.Fiddes ran 12.29 in the event, the sixth-fastest time in school history.

Towson returns to the track Saturday, March 30, when it hosts the Towson Invitational.
