Salute To Seniors: Jordan Leon (Milford Mill Academy)

Jordan Leon finished out high school career in grand style. Leon anchored the Milford Mill Academy's sprint medley relay to the New Balance Nationals Outdoor title with a sizzling 1:49.1 800 meter leg split. Leon also ended his senior year strong in winning four state titles including a sweep of the 3A state outdoor titles in the distance races (800, 1600, 3200) at Morgan State University two months ago. Leon's range is quite impressive as a sub 50 second leg on his 4x400 along with a 16:20 5K from an All-State cross country season. Check out Jordan Leon's Salute To Seniors series interview below.

What was your most memorable race and competition?

State outdoor winning the two mile, mile, and 800.


Where did you face your biggest competition?

New Balance Nationals Championship SMR.

What was your greatest accomplishment?

Signing to the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore and winning indoor states as a team.


If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in High School?

I wouldn't change anything. I just learned from everything.

What were your most difficult obstacles to overcome?

Coming in second junior year at indoor states in the 800m and outdoor in the mile and 800m then bouncing back after those races to get better.

What will you miss the most?

My team, my coach and running the 4x400 with my squad.

What advice would you give to younger athletes?

Work hard and keep faith in God. Never give up. If a race or something doesn't go your way, just take it as a lesson. And to keep grades up, so you can qualify to run on the college level.

What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

My coach is my mentor. She keeps me on track and makes sure I'm doing well on the track, in the classroom, and in life period. I know she will always be there for me.

What are your college plans?

Keep a good GPA and to do my best all four years in the classroom, cross country, and on the track.
