Summer Training, Week 7: August 3rd - August 9th

Watch Hengst train on Hereford High School's home course, home to the Maryland State XC Championships and the annual Bull Run Invitational. The course is infamous for its hills, especially "The Dip" - featured above - which many argue is the toughest incline in the nation.

Monday, August 3 - off

Tuesday, August 4 - I decided that one of my main goals this year was to win Bull Run in the elite division, so any chance I get I try to run the course. I went to Bull Run and ran the course twice getting 6 miles and finishing up with some faster running up and down the dip on the course.

Wednesday, August 5 - ran to the nearby high school, about 6 miles. I finished up with 45 minutes of agility drills.

Thursday, August 6 - I had a busy day with not much time starting in the morning. So I got up early and ran a fast 4 miles around 6:10 pace.

Friday, August 7 - I went for a 6 mile run and felt terrible the whole way so I decided an ice bath was necessary to help my body recover a bit from the past few weeks of training. 15 min ice bath

Saturday, August 8 - off

Sunday, August 9 - Went to Green Mountain Running Camp. #GMRC My dad, his friend, and I made the 7 hour trip to New Hampshire that day and got to camp around 2. That afternoon I went on a run with my group and around Kimball Union Academy's campus.
