1/7 Chester County Indoor Championships, Ursinus

RESULTS POSTED

Boys

Four meet records were set at this year's Chester County Indoor Championships. Austin Woodford, Downingtown East, set a new meet record in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.53 seconds. D.J. Thomas, Coatesville, set a new shot put meet record with a personal best throw of 55-09.50. Great Valley set a new meet record in the 3200 meter relay with a time of 8:21.01. And lastly, Downingtown East set a new record in the 1600 meter relay with a brisk time of 3:31.95. Other notable performances were in the 800 meter run where Joe Zamadics, East HS, edged out J.C. Rizzo, Conestoga, 2:00.55 to 2:00.89, and in the 800 meter relay where Coatesville won in a time of 1:34.59. Downingtown East also won the Sprint Medley in a time of 3:44.85. Great Valley and Coatesville battled in the DMR with Great Valley taking the win 11:00.13 to 11:04.14.

Girls

Five meet records were altered on the girls side beginning with Whitney Winters of Conestoga. Whitney set the 60 meter hurdle record of 9.15 in the prelims and went on to win the event final in 9.34. Whitney also captured the 60 meter dash record with a time of 7.79 seconds. The shot put record was rewritten by Kaleena Gray, Coatesville, who tossed a winning put of 41-09.50. Rounding out the records were Downingtown East, winners in the Sprint Medley in a record time of 4:14.83, and a Henderson squad that set the DMR record of 13:04.75. Other relay notables were Phoenixville in the 800 meter relay, winning with a time of 1:48.20 and Conestoga in the 1600 meter relay, winning in a time of 4:03.65. Carly Hamond took the win in the mile with a time of 5:09.64 over a field that consisted of 4 sub-5:20 times. Unionville's Christine Smith won the 3000 meter run in 10:53.20.

 

1/8 DELCO Girls Indoor Championships, Haverford

The story of this meet was Karen Shump, the Penncrest senior who continues to set new PR's, all the while flirting with the 50 foot mark. Shump's winning mark was 49-08.00. The Oklahoma-bound senior from Penncrest High School outside Philadelphia, upped her shot put PR from a 49-04.25 at an indoor meet in January 2007. The throw came at the Delaware County Girls Championships on Tuesday, January 8 at Haverford College. She has twice achieved 49-00.75, which both accomplished outdoors in 2007.In the sprint races Rayianna Johnson, Chester, was a double-winner, taking the 60 meter dash in 7.5 seconds, and the 200 meter dash in 25.3 seconds. The other double-winner of the meet was Upper Darby's Brandi Slaughter, who won the long jump with a leap of 17-01.50 and the triple jump with a mark of 35-08.00. Alix Williams, Strath Haven, came close to winning two events, taking the 60 meter hurdles in 9.1 seconds and finishing 2nd in the 400 with a time of 58.2. Haverford's Rhian Jones won the 400 with a time of 58.1. Shaniel Chambers, Chester, won the 800 with a season best time of 2:16.0. Caitlin Storbeck, Carroll, won the mile with a time of 5:21.1, and O'Hara's Beth Kelly won the 3000 in 10:58.9. Upper Darby won the 800 meter relay over Ridley, 1:50.0 to 1:50.2. Strath Haven won the 1600 meter relay in a time of 4:05.8 and Chester put together a quick DMR with a winning time of 12:56.0.

   

  

1/10 NYRRC Thursday Night at the Races, NY Armory

1/10 State College HS Invitational

Jared George, Altoona, won the pole vault competition with a vault of 14-04.00. Teammate Travis Hammaker was 2nd with a vault of 13-06.00. State College sprinter Alex Kenney took home the win in the 60 meter dash and 200 meter dash. His winning time in the 60 was 6.8 seconds, and in the 200 it was 22.4 seconds. Aaron Nadolsky, Altoona, won the 400 in 50.8 seconds. On the girls side, Chloe Schmidt won the 3000 meter run with a time of 10:37.

 

 

1/10 TSTCA Indoor Meet #2 @ Pitt

David Adley, Baldwin,  won the 3000 meter run in a time of 9:04.0, while teammate T.J. Hobart won the 880 yard event in 2:02.1(2:01.5 800m).  Jeff Robinson won the 60 meter dash in 7.0, and Tomika Acie, McKeesport, won the 60 hurdles in 9.4.  Jervavin Matthews, Canon McMillan, won the long jump in 21-08.00.  Kelly Monteleaeie, Penn Hills, won the girls long jump in 16-11.25.  Torre Paterra of Elizabeth Forward won the shot put with a throw of 36-08.00. 

 

 

1/11-13 Colgate Women's Games #3 @ Pratt Institute, NY 

RESULTS POSTED 

With a clearer track, Easton's Chanelle Price ran her best time of the season (before she bettered it the next day in Kutztown), going 2:10.7. Upper Dublin's VIcky Gocht wentt 59.9 for 3rd in the 400. Notre Dame Green Pond's Allison Constant took 3rd in the 1500 in 4:58.8, with Engineering & Science's Syeeda Gee in 4th at 5:04.5.  

 

1/11 Dickinson College HS Invite #2

CANCELLED FOR 2008

 

Ijeoma Ihema, Council Rock South, ran 58.6 in the 400
at the DVGTCA meet Friday. She's been included in the
elite field assembled for the 500 meter run Saturday

Brittany Wallace, Penn Wood, set a new facility record, breaking an 18-year old mark with her time of 41.7. Chester put together a fast 4x800 meter relay, winning in a time of 9:44.6 with WC Henderson in 2nd at 9:46.0. Ijeoma Ihema, Council Rock South, won the 400 meter dash with a time of 58.6. In the 4x400 meter relay Girls High took top honors, running a time of 4:08.4. Anthonia Ballard, Swenson, and Jasmine Wanamaker, Girls High, went 1-2 in the 60 hurdles, with both athletes timed in 8.8 seconds. Sam Smarkola, Ridley, won the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.8. Kelsey Rose, Upper Dublin, and Megan Rother, Villa Joseph Marie, finished 1-2 in a close 800 meter run with Rose winning in 2:23.7 and Rother 2nd in 2:24.0. Saint Basil Soph Liz Barrett won the mile in 5:22.7, while the 3000 meter run was taken by Council Rock North's Karrie Finn in 10:53.4. Taylor Bumpas, Gwynedd Mercy Academy, won the 1000 meter run in 3:10.2.

 

1/11 Slippery Rock HS Invitational #1

RESULTS POSTED

Senior Dan Kwiatkowski of McDowell uncorked a US #1 shot put of 61-11.50. McDowell long jumpers Robert Ward (21-11.50) and Alex Schmundt (21-10.75) went one-two. Indian Valley's Brooke Mathews won the 55 in 7.44 and the long jump, going 16-09.    

 

 

1/12 Lebanon Valley College HS Invitational #2

Andrew Batula, Annville-Cleona, won the high jump with a leap of 6-06.00.  Devan Coon, Schuylkill Valley, won the 55 meter dash in 7.44 seconds in a close race with Susquehanna Township's Brittney Waters, also timed in 7.44.  Cory Young, Waynesboro, won the 55 meter hurdle event in 7.94 seconds.  Shane Witmyer, Wilson, won the boys long jump with a leap of 23-03.75, and Susquehanna Township's Nobehgomwan Idoze took the girls long jump in 16-08.50.  Anna Muzio, Central Dauphin, won the girls shot put with a throw of 37-03.75, and Sam Mealing, Milton Hershey, was 2nd with a throw of 35-06.50.   
  

 

1/12 Marietta College (OH) HS Open Meet #1

PA athletes snagged a few elite times out in Ohio, but also turned out a few other good performances.  Tristan Stagger, Pittsburgh Central Catholic, was 5th in the 55 dash with a time of 6.72.  Jeravin Matthews, Canon-McMillan, turned in a runner-up finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.19.  Matthews also won the long jump with a leap of 20-08.50.  Teammate Sonny Billingsley was 2nd in the triple jump with a 40-04.75 effort.  Also from Canon-McMillan, Kyle Gibson was 2nd in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:35.46.  Trinity's Jessica Zimak turned in a pair of runner-up performances in the 3200 and 1600 with times of 12:26.20 and 5:45.77.  

 

 

1/12 Maroon & Gold Invitational, Kutztown University

Chanelle Price continues to flirt with the 2:08.5 mark, this time running to a solo win in a time of 2:10.20.  A standout performance also came in high jump where Ray Quill, Pottstown, leapt to a PA #1 height of 6-08.00.  Abby Schaffer continues to dominate the girls pole vault, this time with a winning height of 12-00.00.  Catasqua's Kyle Miller won the boys vault with a mark of 14-09.00.  Romarr Mayne, Reading, won the 55 dash in a time of 6.54, and Montoursville's Keenan Michael won the 55 hurdles in 7.78.  Lindsey Graybill, Emmaus, won the 1600 meter run in 5:18.26.  Harrisburg's Joshua Potts and Alysha Cook won the 400 meter event in respective times of 50.47 and 1:00.80.  Mike Vatti, Easton, was a close 2nd in the boys 400 with a time of 50.87.  Cumberland Valley won the boys DMR in 10:58.32 and Pennridge won the girls DMR in 13:06.10.  Erin Guty, Trinity, won the girls long jump with a leap of 17-03.75.

1/12 Montgomery Invitational, Landover MD

PA athletes fared well at the Montgomery Invitational in Landover, MD on Saturday. Mark Dennin, Boyertown, is showing that he can parlay his cross country success to the track, as he placed 5th in a fast mile with a time of 4:21.53 and won the 3200 meter run with a time of 9:25.98. Meghan Lutz, Nazareth, won the girls 3200 meter run in 11:17.33. Carlton Lavong, Methacton, won the Long Jump with a leap of 22-03.50 and placed 3rd in the Triple Jump with a mark of 46-04.75. Teammate Wesley Lavong won the Shot Put with a throw of 57-03.50. Methacton continued their dominance in the field with Percell Berry taking the victory in the Pole Vault with a height of 14-00.00. Jarett Gordon provided Methacton with a 2nd place in the 55 meter dash with his time of 6.57 seconds. Also on the track, Methacton placed 5th in the DMR with a time of 11:04.64. Baldwin finished 7th in the event with a time of 11:12.40. Bouncing back from a breathing problem in the Mile, T.J. Hobart anchored in 4:24. Upper Saint Clair's Elizabeth Kline ran a PA elite time of 9.02 in the 55 meter hurdles.

Josh Izewski, Central Bucks East, 8:43.1 in the morning @ Haverford

Josh Izewski ran a very fast 3000 by himself, winning in a time of 8:43.1. Pennridge's James Fayette was 2nd in 8:57.9. Sean Mallon, Archbishop Ryan, won the mile in 4:27.6 with Zach Montijo, North Penn, 2nd in 4:31.0. Upper Dublin's Mike Palmisano dipped under 2 minutes to win the 800 in 1:59.6. Kevin Wilbank, Ridley, (In photo by PennTrackXC.com) won the 200 in an elite time of 22.6. North Penn won the DMR in a time of 11:05.7. In the field Vince Formica, CB South, won the long jump with a mark of 22-00.75, and Tom Barr, LaSalle, won the Shot Put with a throw of 50-05.00.

Terence Lee, Engineering & Science, 8:50.0 in the afternoon @ Haverford

The 3000 meter run was hot again in the afternoon at Haverford College, as Terrence Lee and Chris Bodary raced each other to times of 8:50.0 and 8:50.2, with Lee getting the edge with a finishing kick. Both runners were under Rob Speare's mark of 8:52.6 from 2006. A new meet record was also set in the long jump. Doug Moppert, Malvern Prep, lept 21-10.00 to better the old record of 21-09.25 set by Ryan Westman, Lower Merion, in 2001. Nick Crits, Wissahickon, took the 800 in a time of 1:57.4. Austin Perry, Carver E&S, was 2nd in 2:01.9. The 60 meter dash was a close one, with three athletes achieving the same time of 7.0 seconds. Sean Uterkoefler, Exeter, won the event, with Davaughn Sutton, West Catholic, 2nd and Dureem David, Penn Charter, in 3rd. in the 4x800 meter relay Germantown Friends posted a win with a time of 8:17.7. Great Valley was 2nd in 8:18.8. Great Valley came back in the DMR to post a 3rd place time of 11:06.2. Malvern Prep was 2nd in 11:06.1, and Strath Haven won the event with a time of 11:00.4.
