Maria Coffin Runs US #2 10:47 3200! 3 PR's In 3 Meets!

Annapolis junior Maria Coffin ran her first 3200 meter race of the indoor season last night at the Anne Arundel County vs. Baltimore County Challenge meet and recorded the second fastest time in the nation with her 10:47.07. The Foot Locker finalist bested her previous 3200 meter personal record from outdoors of 10:49.61.

She did not have much competition to push her along with her freshmen sister Anna Coffin as the race runner-up in 11:40 as she lapped the field and several others multiple times. Coffin was coming off a near sub 5 minute mile race of 5:01.03 as a runner-up to Patuxent's Hayley Jackson at the Montgomery Invitational, which converts down to a sub 5 minute time for 1600 meters (4:59.28c).

With three PR's in three meets (ran 2:22.13 800 PR in the Anne Arundel County/Howard County Challenge meet last week), Coffin is off to a blazing start to her indoor season and likely could see her in season's end going for a 5K PR in the New Balance Nationals 5K. She ran 17:19 outdoors at New Balance Nationals Outdoors and could seriously challenge to run sub 17 minutes in a 5K before she graduates high school.
