Surrattsville Sprints: The Surrattsville girls have one of the best sprinting groups in Maryland and could rack up some serious points at the state championships. Khaalea Collins was a state champion in the hurdles during last year's indoor and outdoor seasons. She leads this season's 1A girls rankings in the hurdles and is also a close second in the 55 dash; she is also a leg on the fastest 4x200 relay among 1A girls. She's joined by Rakiya Taylor, the 300 champion and 55 dash runner-up at the 1A East Regional Championships. At a state championship, it's often the frontrunners that make all the difference, and even without a ton of depth the Surrattsville girls could place high with a couple state championships performances in the sprints.
