Bethlehem Taye (Paint Branch, 2016)

Beth Taye scored her second state title in the 3200 to follow up her 2015 outdoor victory in 4A. She had to defeat a worthy opponent in Annapolis junior Maria Coffin, who had not been beaten by a Maryland runner at any distance 3200 meters or great since last spring. Taye won the 4A state title in a 10:53.03 PR after running 10:53.70 previously to win the Montgomery County title earlier in the season. Taye also picked up a major win earlier in the season at the Southern Maryland Classic with a near sub 11 minute race as well as flirted with sub 11 in the Baltimore at the 4A West Regional (11:03).

2nd Team Selection

Maria Coffin (Annapolis, 2017)

Coming off a long, but successful cross country fall season which extended to mid December at the Foot Locker Nationals, Maria Coffin of Annapolis got off to a late start this season after the winter break with a fairly light meet schedule. She made the most of every meet that she raced in though including a 10:47 3200 PR in a weekday meet with Anne Arundel County and Baltimore County Schools at PG. She did something remarkable in breaking 11 minutes at the Baltimore Armory at the 4A Central Regional. At the state meet, doubling back from a hard 1600, Coffin was unable to stay with Beth Taye of Paint Branch, but still ran a solid time of 10:55 for second place.

3rd Team Selection

Abbey Green (Walter Johnson, 2018)

Abbey Green did not need to win a big race to get selected here, but ran tough and held on for fast times and high finishes in some fiercely competitive races with her Montgomery County rivals Beth Taye and Ciciely Davey on numerous occasions. Her first indoor season ever after skipping the winter last year as a freshmen, the two-time Montgomery County cross country champ ran her best race at season's end to finish 3rd in one of the deeper state 3200 meter races ever for 4A with a new personal best time of 10:58.16. Green also ran on the state champion 4x800 meter relay for Walter Johnson.
