Maddie Akobundu's Senior Highlights Reel

WATCH: Top 5 Madeleine Akobundu Races Of Senior Year!

One of Maryland's most versatile athletes, DuVal's Madeleine Akobundu first competed individually at the state championships during her sophomore outdoor season. She captured her first two state titles during the 2016 indoor season and two more during the outdoor season, finishing her outstanding high school track and field career with four titles in all - and all in different events. Whether it's the hurdles, the sprints, or the field events, Akobundu can do it all. She finished atop the Maryland rankings in both the 100 hurdles and long jump in 2016, as well as in the top 20 in the 55, 100, and 55 hurdles.

Her 20'6.50 leap at the 2016 PG County Championships ranks as the top jump on MileSplit Maryland's rankings (dating back to 2000), and the only jump over 20 feet in that time. She led Maryland as a junior in 2015 as well, jumping 19'7. Her state-leading time of 13.96 in the 100 hurdles at the state championships made her the first Maryland girl to break 14 seconds in the event since Wootton's Gwen Shaw ran the same time in 2013. She competed at New Balance Nationals three times, all three times in the long jump - her highest finish coming at 2016 NBIN where she finished fifth.
