Last Saturday, Whitman's Aaron Bratt and Wootton's John Riker battled to a near tie in the sophomore race at the DCXC Invitational. With Northwood's Obsaa Feda not far behind, the race provided a sneak peek of the coming years in Montgomery County.

Last weekend's DCXC Invitational at Kenilworth Park (DC) was one of the largest and fastest meets on the east coast (even considering the 3.07-mile course). Whitman's Aaron Bratt and Wootton's John Riker had never faced each other on the cross country course coming into the race, but they got very familiar with each other over the course of 15 minutes and 37 seconds. Bratt would eventually win with a strong lean at the finish line, but this is going to be a matchup to watch for many years to come.
