Ten Boys Who Could Have Indoor Breakouts In 2017

Merritt was no slouch last winter, capturing state titles in the 1600 and 3200. However his 1600 season best of 4:27.69 was just the 10th-fastest in the state, and his 3200 season best of 9:53.38 17th. In the spring he flashed his true potential, dipping under 4:20 (and being the only boy at the state meet to do so). After an impressive senior cross country season that saw him qualify for the Foot Locker National Championship Merritt may be on his way to clocking some faster performances this winter, perhaps in hope for an indoor nationals berth.
