Find Out How They Won Their State Titles: The Team Champions Of 4A & 3A!

4A Girls Team Champions - CH Flowers

There was very few letdowns and subpar performances on the day by the CH Flowers girls. They brought their "A" to the 4A State Meet. Pharist O'Neal led the charge for the repeat champions as she was able to pick up two key head to head wins against the top sprinters for their chief team competition in Northwest in her 55 meter dash (7.08) and 300 meter dash (40.49) victories.

Not far behind her in both races was teammate Colleese Daley who was 3rd in the 55 meter dash finals, while placed 2nd overall (40.71) from the slower heat of the girls 300.

Dejah Grant was also an individual champion for the CH Flowers girls clearing a height of 5'4" to claim the 4A state title, while nearly earned a second title like O'Neal with a runner-up finish in a close 500 meter race in a season best time of 1:16.94.

Also scoring in the 500 meter dash was freshmen teammate Javon Watts (1:17.68), who came back later to pick up more distance separating points in the 800 meter run with a 5th finish (2:26.45) and Dejah Grant also added two more points (7th, 2:26.69) in the race.

Kenydi McWilliams dropped over two tenths of second off her preliminary time to finish 4th in the finals of the girls 55 meter hurdles with a 8.50 PR clocking for another 5 points for the CH Flowers girls.

Their relays only cemented their stake as the best team in 4A. Having to compete in the slow heat after they were impeded in their regional qualifying race, their 4x200 meter relay team was not deterred in running the fast time overall among all 4 classifications at the state championship meets in a time of 4:00.99.

With the state title already wrapped up and the 4x400 not having any bearing on a second straight state title, the CH Flowers girls decided to still finish out their day on a emphatic close with a come from behind win over PG County rivals Laurel in a first place time of 4:00.99. The 4x400 win pushed their final team total to 95 points and 24 1/2 points ahead of the runners-up at Northwest.
