2016 Winner: Mallorie Smith (North Point) 56.42
Smith won the 400 title last spring from the slow heat and in convincing fashion: second place was more than a full second behind. Behind her finished two freshmen - Northwest's Cori Brown and Severna Park's Emily Knight - who showed even more progress this indoor season. Knight captured the indoor county, regional and state titles in the 500 while Brown was fourth in 4A in the 300 this winter. Smith will certainly have her hands full as she tries to defend her title come May.
