Will South Lakes Frosh Hannah Waller Steal The Show at States?

South Lakes has had some amazing stars over the years in both the distance and sprint events. One that could be one of the biggest is freshman Hannah Waller. This past weekend she took home the 6A North Championship 100 and 200m titles.

Check out Hannah Waller's Athlete Profile

Her winning times were 11.99 and 24.74 are not only the state leading freshman times but also VA #3 and VA #12 on the year. She is also very much in striking distance to the 11.69 and 24.00 state freshman records set last year by Shadajah Ballard.

It will be Ballard who is likely to be her toughest competition this upcoming weekend at Todd Stadium. Waller will be looking to be the first Northern Region sprint champion in over three years but will face tough competition.

One big thing to look at though when you're predicting your state winners is her solid progression all season. She has constantly improved and seemed stronger with each meet in the season. At this past week's 6A North Championships it was clear she was unchallenged and ready for some big races down at States.

Her starts are solid but the start to her high school career could be one of the best ever if she has a big four races next weekend. Hannah Waller is a girl you should be watching this year at States.
