On Recruiting: Dalton Hengst Picks His Top 5 Schools

Dalton Hengst, a senior at McDonogh School in Maryland and the No. 8 ranked runner on our preseason Flo50 boys rankings, has narrowed down his list of a potential college suitors to five.

His top four as it stands now are Syracuse, Oregon, Ole Miss, and Furman.

On the outside looking in, Hengst says, is Boise State.

He takes his first official visit to Syracuse this weekend.

We caught up Hengst during a Workout Wednesday shoot to see how his college recruiting process has been going. In the interview, he talks about the process of home visits, what it's like to narrow down his choices, and which five schools he's taking official visits to this fall. Check it all out in the interviews above and below.

Dalton's coach Jeff Sanborn -- who's coached many athletes who've gone on to run at the various divisions -- also gave some advice to students and coaches about the recruiting process. Check out his interview below.
