1A Girls 5K Rankings

So far two girls have separated themselves from the rest of the pack in the 1A classification. Boonsboro senior Camryn Harper ran 19:59 in her first 5K of the season back at the Rebel Invitational, and she remains the only 1A girl to have cracked the 20-minute barrier in either of the past two seasons. Harper's steady presence (she has finished in the top five at the state meet in each of the past two seasons) has been a big reason why the Warriors are shooting for their third straight team title.

However, a newcomer to the classification has emerged as contender for this year's state title as well. Catoctin junior Rachel Waldron beat Harper at both the Oatlands and Progressive Physical Therapy invitationals and currently sits second on the 1A state leaderboard. And don't count out last year's 1-3 combination of Ana Rhoten and Faith Parandhamaia from Northern Garrett, or the 2015 runner-up Ashley Betz from Patterson Mill.
