Harford Tech's Beyonce Kelly broke out last winter, clearing 5'6 at the state meet to capture the first state title of her career. Kelly has been nearly unbeatable since then, losing only once last spring (the Golden Ram Invitational) and once this winter (the Freddie Hendricks Relays). She is also the only 2A girl to have cleared 5'3 or higher this winter.

However, Patuxent sophomore Diamond Brooks jumped up a level (pun definitely intended) last week at the 2A East Regionals, clearing 5'2 for the first time in her career to take the regional title. Beyond those two, only Marriotts Ridge's Riley Murtha has cleared a height greater than 5'0 this winter.
