Girls' Meet Records In Danger At Crimson Tide Invitational

Girls 100 Dash

Frederick Douglass' Malia Watkins was this past winter's PG County 55 meter dash champion, solidifying her status as one of the fastest girls in Maryland. With the competition she's up against on Saturday, she could possibly break the meet record in the 100 and only finish in third. (Photo by Brandon Miles)

Meet Record: Olivia Ekpone (Northwest) - 11.96, 2011

Ekpone's meet record has stood for the past half dozen years, but some of the best sprinters in Maryland will try to change that on Saturday. Kelisa Cain (St. Mary's Ryken, 11.46 personal best), Jaida Smith (Frederick, 11.67) and Malia Watkins (Frederick Douglass-PG, 11.78) all enter with personal best marks well beyond Ekpone's meet record. This is certainly one of the races that will be most affected by the cold, even though the field certainly has the talent to shatter the record.
