Matthew Boling's kick in the 4x400m relay wasn't the only big kick at the Texas UIL Track and Field Championships.
Going into the final lap of the boys 6A 1600m La Porte High School's Ryan Schoppe was leading the way, but right on his heels were three other guys, one of them being Katy Tompkins junior Cole Lindhorst.
Heading into 200 meters to go, Schoppe still held the lead as part of the pack began to fade back. Lindhorst, however, kept within striking distance. With 100m to go, he began to make his move. The junior went by Schoppe to take the win running 4:07.41. Schoppe would finish second in 4:07.47 with Flower Mound's Alex Maier placing third in 4:09.41.
