Who was the top boys runner of the sixth week of the 2019 cross country season? Vote below!

The Liberty boys will be seeking their fifth straight state title this season, and their first of the decade without recent graduate Daniel Saxon. In his place, senior Woodrow Kashima has stepped into the lead role for the Lions. Kashima ran what may have been his best race of the season on Saturday at the Frank Keyser Invitational, placing second in the small school boys race. His 15:48 time was a 41-second improvement from his performance at Frank Keyser as a junior and helped the Lions dominate the team scores (they scored half the points as the runners-up from Fallston).

Two runners had big performances at the Georgetown Prep Classic on Saturday. Oakland Mills Baidy Ba has built upon his solid sophomore track season - and then some. Ba ran 16:25 in the seeded race at Georgetown Prep on Saturday to edge Parkdale's Jafar Hussen, the fastest time at the Georgetown Prep Classic since 2013. Ba will head into next week's Howard County Championships as part of the chase pack behind favorite Anish Nanjappa.

Over in the unseeded race, Sandy Spring Friends senior Alex Fendig finished second. It was Fendig's third sub-18 performance of the season and one that sets him as the man to beat once again at the PVAC Championships (which he won last year) later this month.

Finally, Clarksburg senior Sam Eig defended his home course at High Point Farm last Thursday. The lead changed hands over the course of the final mile in the boys race, and Eig emerged up the final hill ahead of the rest of the field. Could Eig challenge for a spot in the top 20 at the Montgomery County Championships this Saturday?
