The Whitman girls emerged victorious from a showdown with Walter Johnson at the Montgomery County Championships. After Walter Johnson had the better day out of the two teams at the Manhattan Invitational on October 12 the Wildcats briefly moved into the number four spot, but Whitman's tight 1-5 spread helped them defend their county title and move back into the slot they have occupied for most of the year.
The other top-ten matchup came at the Baltimore County Championships where the Dulaney girls defeated Hereford by six points on their home course. Like the Vikings, the Dulaney girls swap places with Hereford on our week seven team rankings. The big movers of the week were the Sherwood and Gaithersburg girls, both of whom move into the top 25 for the first time all season (Sherwood was part of "the next five" last week). The Warriors and Trojans finished fourth and fifth, respectively, at the Montgomery County Championships.
