The 2013 Severna Park boys fielded one of Maryland's strongest teams of the decade, winning a second consecutive state title and qualifying for Nike Cross Nationals behind the 1-2 punch of seniors Ryan Forsyth and Rhys Burgett. However, you don't score just 38 points at the 4A state championship by having just two great runners, and their effort at the 2013 Maymont XC Invitational in Richmond, Virginia showcased just that.

Forsyth (second) and Burgett (fourth) led the way, but senior Dillon Cooley (above left) and junior Clay Whitney (above right) placed 13th and 16th, respectively. Kevin Hines (25th) and Jack Kiely (35th) rounded out the Falcons' top six. Their seventh runner, sophomore Andrew Forsyth, finished higher than any other team's fifth runner, and Severna Park scored over a hundred points less than the second-place team from Patriot (VA).
