Ellie Gonzalez (Catholic) - 19:10 5K, IAAM C conference champion

The 2010 boys race featured both one of the deepest fields in meet history and two of the DC area's top cross country runners of the decade. Sidwell Friends senior John McGowan won his second meeting of the season against Loyola Blakefield's Matt Jablonski; both would go on to qualify for national meets, with McGowan placing 16th at Foot Locker Nationals and Jablonski placing 30th at Team Nationals. Punyua (above) and Meadows were top finishers at the MIAA Championships and Punyua likely would have been the small school division champion.

On the girls side, McDonogh's Madeline Dulac was one of the state's top runners as a senior and handily beat out the girls individual state champion Elizabeth Tauber, at the IAAM Championships. Catholic freshman Ellie Gonzalez (who would go on to become one of Maryland's most accomplished distance runners of the decade) clocked the second-fastest time (19:10) across all conferences at the IAAM Championships. Dulac and the McDonogh girls likely could have given the Georgetown Visitation girls a run for their money for the top spot in the large school team standings.
