100m - 10.42 - Devon Smith (Westlake) in 2022 and Kamel Winfield Jr (Old Mill) in 2022

Brody Buffington (Catoctin) has run 10.29 and is in a great spot to break it.

200m - 21.04 - Jermaine Lewis (Eleanor Roosevelt) in 1992. Judson Lincoln (Oakland Mills) ran 20.90 in 2022, which is the fastest FAT time recorded at the State Meet. Lewis ran 21.80 hand timed, which is covered up to 21.04. 

Brody Buffington (Catoctin) has run 20.59 and Mykel Morman (Henry A Wise) has run 20.87. Both athletes have the ability to break this record. 

3200m - 9:06.13 - Solomon Haile (Sherwood) in 2008

Antonio Camacho-Bucks (Centennial) has run 8:58 this year alongside quality competition. The big question will be can he run sub 9:06 alone?

Shot Put - 64-06.5 - Tom Brosius (Springbrook) in 1968

Chimdy Onoh (Dundalk) has been the top thrower in Maryland for 2 years and has thrown 61-10 this season. 

4x200 Relay - 1:26.25 (Henry Wise) in 2012

Two teams have a shot at this record. Bowie leads the state with a 1:26.18 performance, .07 seconds faster than the current record. Depending on which athletes Oakland Mills puts on this relay, they have a decent opportunity as they have run 1:26.92 this season. 

100m - 10.60 - Brody Buffington (Catoctin) in 2022 

Buffington currently owns the 1A state record in the 100 at 10.60 but will be eyeing the overall record of 10.42 set by Devon Smith (Westlake) in 2012. He has run 10.29 seconds this season.

200m - 21.51 - Kyle Farmer (Oakland Mills) in 1999

Buffington has already run 20.59, which is 0.45 seconds faster than the current non-wind-aided record of 21.04 set by Jermain Lewis (Eleanor Roosevelt) in 2022.

300m Hurdles - 39.0 - Derek Martin (Smithsburg) in 2006 -

Tori Willis (Cambridge South Dorchester) has run 38.51 this season, 0.49 seconds faster than the current state record.

4x800 Relay - 8:05.33 (Northwestern) in 2011

While it may be a little bit of a long shot, Mountain Ridge has run 8:10 this season, 5 seconds off the current record. 

Long Jump - 23-01.5 - David Alexander (Sollers Point) in 1966

Furious Trammel (Catoctin) jumped 22-8.5 earlier this year and will have a great opportunity at this 57-year-old record. Brody Buffington has jumped 23-5.25 Indoors but was not entered in the event at Regionals.

Pole Vault - 14-06 - Jackson Tuomey (Brunswick) in 2021

Everett Young (Patterson Mill) took home gold last year at states in the PV and will be trying to break the state record this year. Young has cleared 14-4 this year. 

Discus - 166-10 - Ryan Martin (Williamsport) in 2003

Carter Hess (Fort Hill) has a great opportunity to break the record. He has thrown 169-10 earlier this season. 

2A Boys State Records in Jeopardy 

100m - 10.65 - Jasper Savey (Gwynn Park) in 2012

Trevin McHargh (Oakland Mills) has run 10.70 this season. His teammate, Shane King has run 10.78. Both sprinters will be gunning for that record. 

800m - 1:53.80 - Riley McDermott (Middletown) in 2017

Tyler Edson (Liberty)has already run under the state meet record this season when he ran 1:53.07. 

4x100 Relay - 42.18 (Howard) in 2007

Oakland Mills has run 42.11 this season, 0.07 seconds under the current record. 

4x200 Relay - 1:26.90 (Oakland Mills) in 2022

Oakland Mills will be trying to break their own record (and the overall state record) They have run 1:26.92 this season. 

4x400 Relay - 3:19.02 (Baltimore Poly) in 2007

Oakland Mills once again has a chance at a relay record. It will be interesting where they decide to put their top athletes. They have run 3:18.74 in the 4x400 this season, a full second faster than the record. 

4x800 Relay - 7:56.5 (Hereford) in 1978

Liberty has run 8:01 this season, 5 seconds slower than the state record. With a 1:53 leg in Tyler Edson, they might be able to make a run at it. 

Shot Put - 58-11.75 - Glenwood Edwards (Lansdowne) in 2003

Darius Grimes (Frederick Douglass PG) has thrown 55-6.25 this season, about 2 feet under the current record. 

Discus - 167-10 - Quincy Sulton (Frederick Douglass PG) 

Ruichen He (Glenelg) has thrown a state-leading 179-10 in the disc so far this season, 12 feet further than the current record. 

1600 - 4:07.11 - Shane Stroup (River Hill) in 2002

Antonio Camcho-Bucks (Centennial) has run 4:12 this season so this might be a little bit of a stretch, especially considering he will have to do it alone if he goes for it. With that said, there were 7 boys who ran 4:23 or faster at the regional meet, so he will have company, at least early in the race. 

3200 - 9:11.32 - Baidy Ba (Oakland Mills) in 2021

Antonio Camacho-Bucks (Centennial) has already run 8:58 this season and has the ability to break the record. The question will be can he do it alone? When he ran 8:58 he had about 10 boys of similar ability with him. He won't have that here. 

100m - 10.42 - Kamel Winfield Jr. (Old Mill) in 2022

Mykel Morman (Henry A Wise) has run 10.44 this season, Nick Spikes (Paint Branch) has run 10.52, and Antoine Spencer (North Point) has run 10.53. All three of these sprinters have the ability to take down this record, which is also the overall state record. 

200m - 21.04 - Jermaine Lewis (Eleanor Roosevelt)  in 1992

Mykel Morman (Henry A Wise) has run 20.87 and if conditions are right, has a great shot to break this 31-year-old record. 

110m Hurdles - 13.84 - Jerry Roney (Woodlawn) in 1988

Two athletes have gone under 14 seconds this season, Joseph DeRosier (Old Mill) who has run 13.91, and J'Marcus Hines (Bowie) who has run 13.98. They will both have their eyes locked on this record!

4x100 Relay - 41.64 (Eleanor Roosevelt) in 1992

Henry A Wise has run 41.73, only 0.09 seconds off the current record!

4x200 Relay - 1:26.25 (Henry A Wise) in 2012

Bowie has run 1:26.18, 0.07 seconds faster than the current record.
