Several Maryland high school track and field athletes posted personal bests during meets held April 15-17.
JD McCoy (Oakland Mills) cleared 6-4 in the high jump at the Howard County League Meet 3A on April 15, improving from his previous best of 5-6 set in March 2026. The mark places him #15 in Maryland and #1 among sophomores. McCoy finished second of nine competitors.
Nkechi Streete (Broadneck) jumped 20-5.25 in the long jump at the Sam Singleton Scorpion Classic on April 17, bettering her previous PR of 18-6.05. The mark is a school record and ranks #2 in Maryland and #1 among juniors. Streete won the event among 55 competitors and also set a PR in the triple jump with 40-3.5, improving from 39-9.75.
Keayon Speights (Overlea) ran 15.51 in the 100-meter hurdles at the Sam Singleton Scorpion Classic on April 17, dropping from her previous best of 16.38 set in April 2026. The time ranks #35 in Maryland and #1 among sophomores. Speights placed 11th of 58 competitors and also posted a PR in the 300 hurdles with 49.30, improving from 52.04.
Chukwubuikem Uzoukwu (Western Tech) jumped 21-6.5 in the long jump at the Sam Singleton Scorpion Classic on April 17, bettering his previous mark of 19-4 from March 2026. The distance ranks #29 in Maryland and #13 among seniors. Uzoukwu finished fourth of 53 competitors and also set a PR in the triple jump with 43-11.75, improving from 42-10.5.
Amar Lanier (Calvert Hall College) jumped 21-10.75 in the long jump at the Sam Singleton Scorpion Classic on April 17, improving from 20-1.75 set in April 2026. The mark ranks #19 in Maryland. Lanier placed third of 53 competitors.
Laila Harris (McDonogh School) jumped 18-2.25 in the long jump at the McDonogh Girls Meet #2 on April 15, bettering her previous best of 17-1. The distance ranks #16 in Maryland and #1 among sophomores. Harris won the event among 19 competitors and also set a PR in the triple jump with 36-4, improving from 35-3.
Sarai Owusu (Westminster) ran 25.25 in the 200 meters at the Sam Singleton Scorpion Classic on April 17, improving from 26.63 set in March 2026. The school record time ranks #37 in Maryland and #7 among freshmen. Owusu placed sixth of 142 competitors and also posted a PR in the 400 meters with 58.57, bettering her previous mark of 58.92.
