Maryland's freshman class made quite a bit of noise last week, with a handful of first-year athletes posting competitive marks that turned heads across the state.

Parham made a splash across the sprint events at the Trojan Invite last week, winning the 100m at 12.15 and finishing third in the 200m at 25.41 before running a 58.64 in the 400m to finish second. No other freshman in the state mixed it up in all three sprints quite like that last week.
Chalk finished second in the discus at the Sam Singleton Scorpion Classic at 113-11 and also posted a 32-8 in the shot put at the same meet. Both marks lead all freshmen in the state and slot her among the top throwers in any class in Maryland right now.
Cowsette finished eighth in the 100m at 10.93 and ran a 50.97 in the 400m at the Sam Singleton Scorpion Classic last week. The combination of elite short-sprint speed and the ability to maintain that range into the 400m makes him one of the more intriguing freshmen in the state.
