Maryland's middle schoolers had a productive week last week, with athletes from multiple programs posting strong marks across the sprints, distance, and field events.
Here's a look at four girls and four boys who stood out among the long list of contenders!

Top Middle School Performers:
Victoria Long (Calvert Middle, 2030):
Long led all girls last week in the 100m at 12.44, and finished second in the 200m at 26.44, giving her the strongest sprint profile among all girls at this set of meets.
Liam Broughman (Plum Point Middle, 2031):
A 11.14 in the 100m and 22.94 in the 200m led all boys last week, both posted at the Calvert County Middle School Meet. No other boy in this group came close to either mark.
Claire Williams (Plum Point Middle, 2030):
Williams led all girls last week in the 800m at 2:38.20 and the 1600m at 5:55.90 - she's a name to watch in both events as the season progresses.
Daniel Forlu (Riverdale Baptist, 2030):
Forlu posted 15-7 in the long jump and 34-11 in the shot put last week, contributing well in two field events not typically contested by the same athlete.
Arya Van Oosten (Southern Middle, 2031):
Van Oosten led all girls in the long jump at 14-11.50 last week and also ran a 1:02.04 in the 400m and 2:45.20 in the 800m, covering three events across the meet quite well.
Isaiah Villanova (Northern Middle, 2030):
Villanova's 37-5.50 in the shot put lead all boys last week by more than two feet, and was the top throws mark posted by any middle schooler in the state.
Savannah Jenkins (Windy Hill Middle, 2030):
Jenkins led all girls in the discus at 70-2 last week and also cleared 4-2 in the high jump - she had a productive day at the Calvert County Middle School Meet.
Shane Blackman (Windy Hill Middle, 2032):
Blackman led all boys in the 800m at 2:29.00, and came back to run a 5:26.40 in the 1600m - the youngster is certainly a distance talent to keep tabs on!
