Several Maryland high school athletes set personal records at regional championships and conference meets during the week of May 11.
Erse Ohikhueme (Western Tech) ran 15.94 in the 110-meter hurdles at the MPSSAA 1A South Region Championships on May 12, improving from his previous best of 17.04. The mark places him third among 18 competitors and ranks him 95th of 552 athletes in Maryland.
Martina Beringar (Northwest) clocked 25.76 in the 200 meters at the MPSSAA 4A West Region Championships on May 12, dropping from her previous personal record of 27.04. Beringar placed fifth of 35 competitors and ranks 94th of 3,022 athletes in the state.
Maliyah Gist (Gaithersburg) ran 25.64 in the 200 meters at the MPSSAA 4A West Region Championships on May 12, improving from 26.59. The junior finished fourth of 35 competitors and ranks 100th in Maryland and 28th among 477 juniors in the state. Gist also set a personal record in the 400 meters, running 59.17 to improve from 59.92.
Jackson Nathan (Walter Johnson) ran 22.09 in the 200 meters at the MPSSAA 4A West Region Championships on May 12, improving from his April 2026 personal record of 23.32. The junior placed second of 35 competitors and ranks 55th of 3,722 athletes in Maryland and 12th among 735 juniors.
Dominick Malone (Clarksburg) ran 11.06 in the 100 meters at the MPSSAA 4A West Region Championships on May 12, dropping from his previous best of 11.70 set in April 2026. The senior placed fifth of 34 competitors and ranks 94th of 3,619 athletes in Maryland and 40th among 585 seniors. Malone also improved his 300-meter hurdles time from 39.49 to 39.44.
Tyla Hamilton (Bishop McNamara) ran 14.53 in the 100-meter hurdles at the WCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 15, improving from 14.98 set in May 2026. The junior placed third of 18 competitors and ranks 11th of 598 athletes in Maryland and fourth among 93 juniors in the state.
Lila Parry (North Harford) ran 12:01.00 in the 3,200 meters at the MPSSAA 2A & 1A East Region Championships on May 12, improving from 13:34.76 set in December 2025. The senior placed third of 29 competitors and ranks 75th of 721 athletes in Maryland and 24th among 141 seniors in the state.
