  • Munro College, JAM, won the boys COA 4x400 with a blazing 3:11.31 fueled by Delano Williams 46.21 split.  Junipero Serra, CA, finished strong for 2nd in 3:14.39.
  • Long Beach Poly, CA, lit up the track in the boys COA 4x800 with a US#3 All-Time clocking of 7:31.69! Abington, PA, finished 2nd in a US#7 All-Time performance of 7:37.79 with Central Bucks West, PA, 3rd in 7:38.97, a US#8 All-Time performance.  Poly anchor Myles Andrews split 1:49.54 to bring home the victory.  Russell Hornsby, Georgetown Prep MD, split 1:50.61 to lead his team to 4th in 7:45.40.
  • Jordan Yamoah, Arlington NY, won the boys pole vault with a new Penn Relays record of 16-6.50.  The record was set in 2007 by Hatboro Horsham's Joe Perry of 16-0.75.
  • Marquis Dendy, DE, won the boys triple jump with a leap of 50-8.25, overtaking Jared Gambrell, Athens PA, on his final jump. Jared was 2nd in 50-0.75.
  • Jerome Wilson, Kingston College JAM, won the boys long jump with a leap of 24-3.75.  Derek Gaul, PA, was the first US finisher at 4th in 23-4.75.
  • Wolmer's Boys JAM won the boys COA 4x100 with a time of 40.42.  Knightdale NC finished 8th in the final with a time of 41.29.
  • Oakcrest, NJ, won the boys large schools 4x100 relay with a time of 42.10.
  • Camperdown, JAM, won the boys small schools 4x100 relay with a time of 41.69.  Junipero Serra, CA, was 2nd with a time of 41.75.
  • Kemarki Absalom, St. George's JAM, won the boys high jump with a leap of 6-9.  Joey Muzzio, Robinson VA, finished 2nd in 6-7.75.
  • Jermaine Collier, Trenton Central NJ, blasted through the hurdles on his way to the 400 Hurdles championship title with a time of 53.11.
  • Munro College, JAM, was the fastest boys qualifier out of heat 442 with a time of 3:12.95.  Long Beach Poly was 2nd with the 4th fastest qualifying time of 3:15.78.
  • Out of heat 441 Junipero Serra, CA, won with the 2nd fastest time of 3:14.28.  Jamaica College, JAM, was the 3rd fastest qualifier with a time of 3:15.52.
  • Knightdale NC won heat 439 to qualify for the COA 4x400 with a time of 3:17.51.

  • Boys DMR COA: Christian Brothers Academy, NJ won the DMR in a surprising showdown with Central Bucks South, PA who was the last seed.  CBA and CB South traded the lead throughout the race with the CB South anchor, Austin Gregor, took off with 250 to go but CBA's Mike Mazzaccaro wasn't finished and put on his own kick and was able to hold on to the finish in 10:13.04.  CB South finished 2nd in 10:15.46.  Edward Cheserek, St. Benedict's NJ, was perhaps one of the most impressive performances of the night as he flew through the anchor leg in 55 and the 800 in 1:56 as he wound up with a 4:05.76 split to bring his team last to 5th!
  • Boys 3000m COA: Morgan Pearson, Delbarton NJ, stayed with the pack for the first 6 laps and then decided to take the lead with 850 meters remaining.  Morgan said afterwards that he was nervous taking the lead with so much race to go, but the legs were good enough as he crossed the line in 8:23.34.  Martin Hehir, Washingtonville NY, closed hard for 2nd in 8:25.64.  JohnMurray, Shrewsbury MA, rounded out the top 3 with a time of 8:27.00.
  • Boys Mile COA: A strategic race all the way as race-winner Matt Jablonski, MD, and Chad Noelle, NY, stayed back in the pack following the aggressive leading style of Jacob Burcham, WV.  Burcham led for nearly 1500 meters before the exciting part of the race came as Noelle and Jablonski pulled even around the final turn.  Noelle had the lead down the final straight with a hard-closing Jablonski just nipping him at the line before falling to the track.  Jablonski ran 4:10.37 while Noelle was at 4:10.38.  Burcham held on for a solid 3rd place showing in 4:11.63. 
  • Long Beach Poly, CA electrified the crowd in the girls 4x100 COA, winning with a blistering 45.23!!
  • Long Beach Poly, CA finished 2nd in the girls 4x800 meter relay with a blistering US#1 time of 8:59.72
  • Travis Smikle (Calabar Jamaica) broke the record in the high school boys discus with a throw of 228-2 during the first flight early Friday morning.  The previous record of 191-11 was held by Chad Wright (Calabar, Jamaica) 
  • Sam Mattis (East Brunswick, NJ) finished 2nd in the boys discus for the second year with a throw of 201-2. 
  • Nick Vena (Morristown, NJ) won his 4th straight Relays title in the shot put with a meet record and a US#1 toss of 72-9.25
  • Steve Feister (Hempfield, PA) threw the Javelin for a  211-05 for a US#2
  • Long Beach Poly boys were the fastest qualifier in the boys 4x800 meter relay with a US#2 time of 7:46.71

  • Girls COA 3000: Haley Pierce, Tatnall DE, used a huge 69.91 last 400 to win the girls 3000 meter run in 9:16.35, for US#8 All-Time!  Aisling Cuffe, Cornwall NY, tried a 71.5 pent-ultimate 400 to break away but settled for 2nd in 9:19.24, US#10 All-Time.  Waverly Neer, IN, was 3rd in 9:22.32.
  • Girls COA Mile:  Angel Piccirillo, Homer Center PA, used a well-timed kick to win her 2nd straight COA Mile title with a blazing PR of 4:48.83!  Kelsey Margey, Harborfields NY, was 2nd with a time of 4:49.38 while Joelle Amaral, NJ, was 3rd in 4:50.53.
  • Girls COA DMR:  Fayetteville-Manlius NY rolled in the COA DMR with a blazing new Penn Relays Record of 10:34.46 (US#5 All-Time) off of a 4:51.39 anchor by Jillian Fanning.  North Shore NY was also under the record with a 2nd place time of 10:36.10 (US#7 All-Time) after Samantha Nadel's blazing 4:45.84 anchor leg!  Fayetteville-Manlius splits were Katie Sischo 3:35.4, Heather Martin 56.7, Courtney Chapman 2:11.0, Jillian Fanning 4:51.39.  Bronxville's Mary Cain blasted a 4:47.38 split!
  • Long Beach Poly, CA, rolled to the fastest girls 4x800 qualifying time with a US#2 9:04.71.  Strath Haven, PA, was the 2nd fastest overall with a US#3 time of 9:09.62 while St. Anthony's, NY, got in with a US#4 time of 9:10.75.
  • Ajee Wilson, the Neptune NJ superstar, split an amazing 2:03.4 anchor leg to bring her team all the way from the back of the pack to 1st with a time of 9:16.07.  
  • Lauren Kenney, State College PA, rocketed the javelin out to 156-02 for US#5 at the Penn Relays record!
  • In the 4x400's Benjamin Cardozo NY was tops, finishing first in their heat with a US#2 time of 3:42.73.  The fastest qualifying time was by Vere Tech JAM, 3:42.61.
  • Medgar Evers NY finished 3rd in Cardozo's heat with a time of 3:45.63 with Edwin Allen JAM 2nd in 3:45.62.
  • Edwin Allen JAM was the fastest out of the 4x100 heats with a blazing 45.97 with Long Beach Poly, CA, 2nd in the heat with the 3rd fastest time of 46.21.  Western Branch, VA, was also impressive with a qualifying time of 46.49 for 4th fastest overall.
  • Ristananna Tracey, Edwin Allen JAM, won the 400 hurdles with a time of 56.17 while Old Mill MD's Alexis Franklin was 2nd with a time of 59.07.

Highlights

  • Khanishah Williams, Burlington, won the girls high jump with a leap of 5-10.
  • Kevin Lewis, Ottumwa, blew away everyone in the boys 3200 meter run with a Relays Record time of 9:05.58.
  • Shelby Houlihan, SC-East, won by a comfortable margin in the girls 3000 meter run Friday with a time of 9:56.71.
  • Shelby Houlihan became the first female athlete in high school history to win 3 individual titles.  After winning the 3000 meters on Friday, Houlihan won the 800 meter run in 2:07.69 for a new meet record and a US#2.   She tried for the meet record in the 1500 but accelerated too late finishing a second off with a 4:29.26 and another US#2.  On Friday evening she also ran a 55.4 anchor split in the 4x400 to help her team to the fastest time in the prelims.

 

 

Florida 1A and 2A State Finals, FL

The first of two weekends of of the Florida State Meet kicks off Friday.  The 1A will compete Friday, followed by the 2A on Saturday. Next weekend the same pattern will repeat with the 3A and 4A. Our Florida affilliate is live on-site with live updates, videos, photos, results, and articles.

FHSAA 4A Region 4, FL

Highlights

  • Keisha Richburg, Miami Northwestern, won the 300 meter hurdles with a US#10 time of 42.62.
  • Miami Northwestern came close to matching their US#7 time of 3:47.77 in the 4x400.  They won the event in 3:47.97.
  • Artie Burns, Miami Northwestern, won the 300 hurdles with a US#5 time of 37.05.  Burns already holds the US#3 spot at 36.87.
  • Hugh Graham Jr., Miami Northwestern, won the boys 400 meter dash with a US#1 time of 46.44.
  • Miami Northwestern won the 4x400 relays with a US#3 time of 3:13.51.  Miami Northwestern already holds the US#1 spot with a 3:10.69

 

FHSAA 3A Region 4, FL

Highlights

  • Robin Reynolds, Miami Jackson, won the 200 meter dash with a US#7 time of 23.92
  • Morel Pitts, Dwyer High, won the 110 meter hurdles with a wind aided time of 13.93 for a US#10.
  • Emarkis Gunn, Palm Beach Lakes, finished 1st in the 300 hurldes with a US#8 time of 37.24

 

FHSAA 4A Region 3, FL

Highlights

  • Shayla Sanders, Boyd Anderson, won the 100 meter dash with an unaided US#2 time of 11:45.  Sanders also won the 200 meter dash with a 23.93 for a US#8.
  • Christopher Grinley, Park Vista, won the boys 300 hurdles with a US#9 time of 37.36. Grinley already holds the US#8 spot with a 37.31.
  • Arman Hall, St. Thomas Aquinas, ran a US#6 time of 47.28 in the 400 meter dash.  Hall already holds the US#3 ranking with a 36.61.
  • Flanagan High School boys ran a 40.88 in the 4x100 meter relays for a US#5
  • South Broward boys ran a 3:15.46 in the 4x400 meter relay for a US#7 St. Thomas Aquinas finished 2nd with a 3:15.95 for a US#9.

 

Region 5-AAAA Championships, GA

Highlights

  • Kendell Williams, Kell High GA, won the girls high jump with a jump of 5-10 to maintain her US#3 ranking.  This is the 4th time Williams has cleared 5-10 this season.

Saturday Highlights

  • Omar Kaddurah, a Grand Blanc MI senior, won the Men's 1500 meter run against open and collegiate athletes by blasting to a huge PR time of 3:47.61.  Full results coming soon.

  • Amy Eloise-Neale, Glacier WA, ran to an impressive US#1 1500 meter time of 4:26.71 out kicking Katie Knight of North Central in the final 200 meters.  Knight finished 2nd with a 4:30.89.
