
Maryland's underclassmen showed out across regional championships and invitationals last week. Here's a look at four freshmen and sophomores who stood out.
At the SPIRE Twilight Classic, Brown swept the hurdles, winning the 100mH in 15.19w and the 300mH in 44.14. The sophomore ranks No. 2 and No. 4 in both events among the state's second-year performers, and is the 10th-fastest sophomore in state history in the 300mH.
The top sprint marks among all underclassmen boys in Maryland last week belonged to Lyons Jr., who ran 11.07 in the 100m and 22.13 in the 200m at the SPIRE Twilight Classic, backing up a strong regional week with a pair of PBs and wins at one of the more competitive invitationals of the week.

Chalk led all girls at the MPSSAA 3A North Region Championships in the discus at 117-10 and added a 33-8.5 throw in the shot put at the same meet, combining for arguably the top throws double among all underclassmen girls in Maryland last week.
At the WCAC Championships, Wells led all boys in the triple jump at 44-10.5 and added also went 20-7.25 in the long jump, the top horizontal jumps combination posted by any underclassman boy in the state last week. His triple jump mark was also a huge PB, adding 10.5 inches to his previous best.
