NIN Recap: Westside Quick Striders Place First in Shuttle Hurdle Relay, Niehaus Third in Two-Mile

Westside Quick Striders Track Club captured the 4x55-meter girls shuttle hurdle relay title at Nike Indoor Nationals in 33.08 seconds. The Quick Striders finished first in the hurdle relay in 33.51 at the 2005 indoor meet.

Spring Valley senior Kate Niehaus placed third in the two-mile run in 10:37.05. Nichole Jones (Track Houston) was first in 10:29.09. In 2005 Niehaus was crowned Nike Indoors two-mile National Champion with a winning time of 10:31.87.

Jasmine Stowers placed fourth in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.60 seconds. Stowers, a Westside Quick Striders member, qualified for the semi-finals after winning heat five in 8.68 seconds. Stowers was second in the semi-finals in 8.54 seconds.

Kya Brookins (Seneca HS-Class of 2007) represented Carolina Roadrunners in the 60-meter dash. Brookins finished fourth in the finals with a time of 7.47 seconds. In the preliminaries Brookins was third in 7.53 and in the semi-finals Brookins placed second in 7.53.

Nike Indoor Nationals took place at Prince George's Sports & Learning Center in Landover, Md. from March 11-12.
