Kentucky was well-represented at the Nike Indoor Nationals Saturday in Maryland, led by Michael Eaton's (Greenwood) 5th place finish of 9:10.50 in the boys 2- mile run, lowering his 2-mile time for the season. The St. Xavier 4x1-mile Relay team finished 6th with a time of 18:20.61, quite an accomplishment for an event Kentucky does not typically run. The unofficial splits were 4:30, 4:31, 4:45, and 4:34.
Kentucky's lone female at NIN was Kortni Dukes (Scott) with a 24th place in the 1-mile, running a 5:18.09. Other Kentucky participants included:
Brian Soverns (Grayson County) - 15th in the Shot Put with a toss of 53-01.75.
Ron Duncan (Fleming County) - 18th in the 2-mile with a time of 9:33.21.
Kenny Minogue (Trinity) - 23rd in the 800-meter with a time of 1:59.42.
Shawn Spalding (St. Xavier) - 67th in the 400-meter with a time of 55.2. Shawn also placed 65th in the 200-meter with a time of 23.97.
St. Xavier – 31st in the 3200-meter Relay with a time of 8:24.96. St. X also placed 22nd in the Distance Medley Relay with a time of 11:13.24 and 31st in the 800-meter Relay with a time of 1:38.09.
