  Linganore High School senior Patrick DuBoyce raced to second place and the Gov. Thomas Johnson boys cross country team won last weekend’s Frank Keyser Invitational’s large school race. DuBoyce finished the event in 15 minutes, 13.6 seconds and was runner-up to Clarksburg’s Will Bertrand (15:01.3). Thomas Johnson, paced by Ben Freed (fifth, 15:28.3), Thomas Trott (13th, 16:15.8) and Louis Levine (14th, 16:20), edged Jefferson (W.Va.) by nine places. Urbana placed seventh, Linganore was ninth and Tuscarora was 15th. In the girls large school race, Clare Mangan led Middletown to second place (86 points) by securing eighth individually in a time of 21:56.7. Bolstering her performance were Jennifer Kim (11th, 22:01.4), Brittany Levine (14th, 22:14.4) and Madison Jones (17th, 22:34.7). River Hill easily won the team title, placing six girls in the top nine to finish with 18 points. Linganore, paced by Emily Melluso (21:38.8) and Allyson Coggins (21:47.7), finished fourth (117). Urbana was seventh (175) and Tuscarora finished 10th (276). David Dorsey (15:03.5) and Kevin Dorsey (15:48.4) guided Catoctin to second place in the small school race by placing second and third, respectively. The Cougars finished with 103 points, 27 places behind champion Williamsport. Middletown, led by Brandon Folio (16:16.3), placed third (134). Oakdale (146) and Walkersville (242) took fifth and ninth, respectively. Scott Berryman (16:15.6) had Walkersville’s best finish in sixth place.
