Shipley, Smith win region titles Nov 3, 2012

updated:  8 hours ago CLASS 4A EAST REGION MEET: Jimmy Shipley finished second with a time of 16:26 as Severna Park’s won the title. Ryan Forsyth (16:30) placed third, Ben Cambon (16:34) finished fourth (16:34), Sam Pershall (16:41) took fifth and Dillion Cooley (16:52) crossed in 10th for Severna Park. Brent Musselman led South River by finishing in sixth in 16:45, and Chesapeake’s Alex Love (16:48) was eighth. Ellie Smith finished second in 20:01 as Broadneck’s girls won the another title. Kathryn Wesdyk (20:37) finished sixth, and Ashleigh Sullivan (20:49) finished 10th for the Bruins. South River got a third-place finish from Reilly Wagner (20:12), and Carly Bunting (20:40) was seventh. Julie Koffler was Severna Park’s top individual with a fifth-place finish in 20:27. CLASS 2A SOUTH REGION: Alec MacCrory’s finished fifth overall to lead the Southern’s boys to a seventh-place finish and a berth state meet. The Bulldogs’ girls also qualified for the state tournament, led by Mackenzie Fitzgerald’s 11th-place finish.  ARCHBISHOP SPALDING SPLIT: Evan Wilson finished fifth in 17:54, Adam Spangler (17:57) took sixth and Ben Cannon (18:01) was seventh as the Cavaliers topped Annapolis Area Christian School, 25-32, but lost to McDonogh, 25-32.    (via www.capitalgazette.com)
